About Samskara Sametha Reddy Naidu ( A Telugu Novel)

-----------------------------------------------------------------

Varanasi Bhanumurthy Rao is a prolific writer in Telugu.  He penned  down  60 short stories and 600 free prose poems in telugu. He released earlier two  books, Sagara Mathanam in 2000 and Samudra Ghosha in 2005 , both are poetry in Telugu..

He released recently '  Mattivedam ' ,  consisting of 70 free prose poems and this novel ' Samskara Sametha Reddy Naidu ' in April 2022.

He prefers to  write in Rayala seema dialect as he born and brought up in Rayala Seema. The  story  of  this novel reflecting the  poverty sticken conditions , the problems  and the life style of Rayala  Seema people.

Similarly, this novel "Sanskara Sametha Reddy Naidu" is set on the back drop of  Rayalaseema and tells the story of two aristocratic families in the area. While the story in the novel runs on one side.  the aithor highlights of the area, especially  the rural areas of Chittoor, the author directly mentions the biggest festivals and  related festivities  stage shows  that take place there, and the culture, traditions, in their area. In particular, the author has elaborated on the way in which cultural events take place and how they are celebrated in the villages.

The author puts a lot of emphasis on the dialect of Chittoor villages  related to this novel.

Many characters come and go in the storyline. Rayalaseema background, dialect, their lifestyle, appear that  shows  the royalty of the two families. The Chittoor district in particular is notable for its mention of the Bahuda River. The origin of the river, flowing in Rayalaseema and meeting in the sea in Nellore district.

This novel tells about the famine in Rayalaseema over a century ago.  It  was  known as the Dooba famine and the porridge famine  and  at that time people ate jamukayalu, deedara and survived. The author explains that despite the subsequent porridge famine mid 1950s ,   the government at that time fed the people with  porridge and kept them alive. Welfare programs seemed to do nothing beyond that.

When it comes to the story, the whole story stretches between two villages on either side of the Bahuda River. Although the two families are reciprocal from generation to generation, the events that take place between the children in the third generation provoke animosity between them. The quarrel between the two villages grows like a tornado . Until then, those families and people, who were very close to each other, also developed factions that took the lives of others.  For a while, the people, along with the heads of the two villages, discover an important secret between their two families. The author goes on to tell a quick story about the aftermath, whether there was a reconciliation between them, or how it happened, who caused it, what was the secret between the two families, and why it was hidden.

After reading Varanasi Bhanumurthy Rao's novel 'Sanskara Sameta Reddy Naidu', his desire to introduce the greatness of his region to the readers became clear. In it he succeeded. After observing the trends of the novel, it is proved that it is a work which has given complete satisfaction to the author.

We  hope to write more such novels in the future and present them to the readers. Wishing the author with best wishes.
